Jon Anderson interview w/ Allison Steele – 76

Thanks to yestopographic73 for this series of slide show videos enhancing the probing and thoughtful interview of Jon Anderson by New York DJ Allison “The Nightbird” Steele in 1976.

Some months ago, long after I posted these videos, rapidshare advertisements were added to the videos, obscuring the slide shows. All of the actual interview is included. Missing are the opening words by interviewer Allison Steele and the song To the Runner in the first video, and video 3 which was composed entirely of the song Meeting (Garden of Geda). The audio tracks were removed from the Youtube uploads in each of these two cases.

The playlist is here: Jon Anderson 1976 interview w/ Allison Steele.

1.  Opening words and To the Runner – 4:20 – missing

2.   Interview begins: “Who is Olias?”, Roger Dean’s Fragile cover illustration, story: characters and tribes, influences – 4:29

.

3. Musical Interlude: Meeting (Garden of Geda) — the audio to this portion is missing and, like the others, the picture is covered by a rapidshare advertisement, so I have removed it.

4. “Jon and Patrick”

.

5.  Dance of Ranyart – 2:09. Disabled by our friends at WMG.

.

6.  On the coming tour, YESSOLOS ’76; on the next Yes album – 2:56

.

7.  Flight of the Moorglade / Conclusion – 2:44

.

    “The Circle, Square and Triangle
are the main parts of the sacred
    geometry of the Olias symbol.
    The Circle represents the EARTH
The Square represents the FOUR TRIBES
The Triangle represents the THREE SPIRIT BEINGS”

I bought this album when it came out. One of my all time favorites.

    Thanks, Steve.

The quote is from the interview? Or from the album sleeve?

I found the quote through his website store. I was surprised to find a link to an ‘Olias of Sunhillow Jewelry’ site where he has this brief discription.

There are a limited number of pins of this symbol available. I have one on order.

Cool. Thanks again. I’m going to copy your comments and put them into my page on the symbol. The page you commented on is the Steele interview. The page on the Olias symbol has been one of the most popular pages on the site. But you’ve uncovered the only description of it by Jon that I’ve seen. Until now that page has been just speculation and comparing it to similar symbols.
